WEBVTT >> Thank you so much for joining us. I'm your host, Lauren Deal, and I'll be your learner advocate as we go along, asking Wes Bryan all the questions that you may have at home. Welcome to the show, Wes. How are you today? Hey, thanks for having me here. We are so excited to have Wes with us because he is a subject matter expert in this field. But before I go any further, Wes, tell us a little bit about yourself. >> Sure, I've been in the technical industry now and been teaching technical content now for better than a decade. And I hold a variety of certifications and I teach a variety of vendor recognized certifications, including things like CompTIA certifications as well as Microsoft certifications. I'm a former Microsoft Certified Instructor and I look forward to be, like Lauren said, she's your learner advocate. I'd like to be your knowledge advocate as we go through this series. >> Well, this is a really fun course already because just knowing that Wes has prepared notes for you to follow along with, I'll be learning along with you, trying to ask the questions that you may have in your head. And I have access to us, which is fantastic. But Wes, who might be the ideal audience to be learning with us today? >> If any of you out there need to deploy, configure, manage, and monitor devices, especially endpoints and modern endpoints like mobile devices, then this is going to definitely be the course for you. However, keep in mind that while not required, there is some assumed knowledge as we go into this course. So again, while not required, if you don't have this knowledge, you might need to backfill some of it because we're not going to be discussing things like the basic TCP IP model, right? You have to know basic networking concepts. You have to understand a little bit about the Windows operating system. If you've never opened a Windows operating system, then this might be a little bit more challenging for you. You need to also know and have some kind of working knowledge of mobile devices, specifically Android iOS as well as your Windows. Now keep in mind when we say Windows, it's going to be the same desktop experience that you see if you're working in a traditional workstation. Just remember that Windows can be put on multiple platforms, including your tablets as well and laptops. So it is going to be important that you have a basic understanding. You also have to have a basic understanding of the Azure infrastructure and Azure in general because we're going to be using and utilizing Microsoft Intune, but the identity store that stores all of the user accounts is backed by the Azure AD solution. So we're going to be talking a little bit about Azure as well as we go through this course. So there are some prerequisites while not required. Keep in mind that they won't be discussed in the course and you should come to the table with that knowledge already. >> I'm excited to jump in. This sounds great already. I feel like I meet some of the needs and ready to get started. But before we do, let's talk about some of the topics that we're going to explore in this course. >> All right, Lauren, we got a ton of topics that you're going to like, but boiling them down to a few of areas. We're going to look at deploying and updating apps for a variety of devices, whether it be Android devices, the iOS slash iPad devices. We're going to talk about things like Mac OS devices, Chrome OS, right? So we're going to see a lot of different applications. Really in this one, what we're looking at more than anything is the mobile application management side, all right? Because it's really about deploying and managing our applications. So we're going to look at deploying and updating apps for these devices, again, across different device platforms. We'll look at implementing app protection policies as well as configuration policies and how we can control in a simplified manner the settings for the applications that we deploy to our end users. And we'll also look at implementing some protection, some conditional access protection for these devices likewise. So a lot of good things in store in this course. >> This is going to be a really great course if you've never watched us with us before. What sets us apart is that we don't just tell you something, we show you as well. And Wes is really great with that. So make sure you get your favorite pen. Check out the notes that Wes has put into this course with us. And let's get ready to jump into our first episode for managing applications using Microsoft Intune.
