WEBVTT >> Thank you so much for joining us. I'm your host Lauren Deal and I'll be your learner advocate as we go along. But >> asking Wes all the questions you may have at home because he is the subject matter expert. Welcome in Wes. Hey, thank you for having me here. Yeah, this is going to be a very, very fun course. I really like Windows technologies. Well, when they work well. We're also as we go through this course to show you how you can manage your Windows clients. What happens when they don't work so well? It's something that I've enjoyed doing. As a subject matter expert here at ACI Learning, I've been really teaching technical courses now for a better than a decade. Microsoft Certified Trainer, MCSA. I definitely taught this in traditional classroom environment as well as through an online environment that you're joining us today. So I really look forward to taking you through the journey of managing Windows clients. Well, I have to say I really enjoy learning from you. >> I'm excited to jump into this, but I'm curious as to what can we expect? What are we going to be talking about? >> Sure. Let's elaborate a little bit more on that. When we talk about managing clients, we're going to talk about the utilities and the tools that you have and all the concepts surrounding configuring and maintaining a stable Windows client environment and experience. We're going to use a variety of tools in and tell you a variety of concepts throughout this course. There'll be GUI based tools. We'll be using things like computer management. We'll be using things like the Windows Admin Center. Graphical user interfaces, push button technology, point and click technology as Bill Gates once said. But we're also going to be showing you how to strip off that GUI and get to a text-based interpreter or something like PowerShell and Command Prompt to manage and streamline and make it more efficient when it comes to managing your Windows clients as well all here in this course. >> Well, that sounds exciting. As a learner, who are you thinking that this course might be for? >> Really anyone. It doesn't matter what level of expertise you're in when it comes to managing Windows. If you've been in maybe you've been using for Windows for a long time now. So it's really for anybody. It could be somebody that's taken an exam. There are a variety of Microsoft Windows client exams out there. If you happen to be taking an exam, this course will definitely help you when it comes to discovering the concepts you need to manage a Windows environment too. But it does not mean that you have to be an exam candidate. You can also be part of the sports staff. Maybe you're on help desk. You want to learn how to more efficiently solve those support tickets. Because at the end of the day, we know that that's one of the things that they're judging you on your efficiency within the workplace. So I hope to help you bring up your efficiency, whether you're taking an exam or not. If you're a beginner to Windows, I don't want you to go anywhere. Don't go to another course. This is just for you. This is for you as well. We're going to walk you through the process. We're going to make it. My goal is to make it easy to understand what we are talking about. We're going to tell you a little bit about the jargon and then strip that jargon off. And let's put this in normal terms that anybody can understand. I will tell you, you do have to bring a little bit of skills to the table, right? You have to have a basic understanding of the Windows OS. Very basic. Just understand computing in general and then have some networking skills. Because we are going to be teaching some things that do tend to lean towards the networking side of managing Windows. We're not specifically focused on networks, but we're not going to be spending time on those explanations. So please make sure, strap your networking hat on. Make sure that you have some basic computer skills. And all of the other demographics that we talked about, this course is for you. >> My gosh, it sounds like a jam-packed show. What are you excited most about? >> I think number one, helping learners. That's my number one passion. I know how it is to get started in the computing industry for the very first time. Or maybe you have been in the computing industry and you need to brush up on some skills. I love teaching you. I really, really like the fact that I can give you some notes that you can follow along at home and at the end of the day you have some things to take away. That you can do some additional research on your own time if you want to, right? We want to be able, I want to be able to show you how to navigate the most popular desktop in the market today, and especially in a corporate environment. So I look forward to the journey with you. >> Well, I have to say, I'm very excited to learn right along with you at home. I'll be following along with my notes, asking Wes the questions that you may have at home, and we're excited to get started. So let's not waste any more time, and let's jump into the first episode.
